Success for the Community Health Forum

Some 70 Community Health Professionals from more than 19 different Community Health Centres came together on Wednesday 9 July to discuss the issues and challenges facing the Community Health Sector.

The session was moderated by Professor Helen Keleher and the panel consisted of Health Researcher, Nick Fredman, Greens Health Spokesperson, Colleen Hartland and the Shadow Minister for Health, Gavin Jennings. The Health Minister, David Davis, had confirmed his attendance but unfortunately withdrew just before the Forum commenced.

The evening proved a valuable opportunity for Members to put the hard questions to decision makers and experts in preventative healthcare and hear what they planned to do about making sure we have a sustainable Community Health sector into the future.

We are currently organising a meeting with the Health Minster so Members can ask the questions of him that they could not on the night. A meeting is also being organized with Gavin Jennings to explore the positive statements made on the night in relation to Community Health.

The night concluded with a sneak preview of 2 videos exploring the serious problems confronting the sector. Members can expect to see the launch of those videos shortly.
