Workplace Advice
VAHPA’s dedicated Member Response Team (MRT) is here to provide you with the workplace information, support, and representation that you need.
No matter what the issue— underpayment of wages, return to work after a period of parental leave, reclassification, bullying or simply reviewing a new contract of employment—we’ve got you covered.
Collective Bargaining
Your wages and conditions are not gifted to you by some philanthropic employer; they are fought for and won.
We work together to achieve the best possible outcomes for you and your patients. VAHPA Members fight to ensure all employers comply with their obligations under the agreement, from negotiating pay and conditions to ensuring decent jobs in cooperative and efficient workplaces.
Professional Indemnity
VAHPA Membership comes with free professional Indemnity Insurance (PII) covering you for up to $20 million.
It is essential that you have your own PII in case you are reported for misconduct, required to give evidence at a coronial investigation or inquest, or are sued for negligence or malpractice. Relying on your employer’s insurance can leave you unrepresented and vulnerable.
Policy & Advocacy
Representing the professional interests of members in policy, legislation and the broader community, we engage in lobbying and activism across all levels of government.
VAHPA makes submissions on Awards and in parliamentary and senate enquiries.
Legal Advice
VAHPA Members can access professional advice on a range of industrial matters and workplace issues.
We have partnered with Maurice Blackburn Lawyers to provide free initial consulatation for members should they require it.
VAHPA offers a range of training courses for members and delegates. These include activist training, delegate training and grievance handling. Find out more
