A conciliation meeting between the VHPA and the VHIA will occur on Friday over the ‘Better Structures, Better Care’ Classification Review for the Public Health Sector.

As reported in last week’s HP Update, the VHPA has lodged a dispute with the Fair Work Commission in an attempt to break the impasse over the Review.

In-principle agreement has been reached on a broad-ranging package of outcomes for the Review.

Negotiations have ground to a halt however over a VHIA proposal to delete a clause in the Enterprise Agreement covering ‘Chief Structures’.

“While we are prepared to be flexible about these positions, it is important that hospital departments have appropriate lines of supervision by suitably qualified and graded Health Professionals,” said Alex Leszczynski, VHPA Senior Industrial Coordinator.
