Community Health Professionals from stand-alone centres met last night at Trades Hall to discuss the most recent offer from the VHIA.
The offer included a new increment (Grade 2 Year 5) with a pay raise of only $20.25 for that increment.
Members concluded that the offer was a poor one and that acceptance would see them fall further behind their Health Professional colleagues.
Members consequently resolved to up the ante in the struggle for fair wages and conditions.
Phone conferences with members in regional centres today confirmed their rejection of the offer and VHPA is now sending a formal rejection to the VHIA.
The rejection marks a stepping up of the Community Health Campaign with a range of activities planned over the coming months. These include a Community Health Forum on Wednesday 9th July wherein members will have the opportunity to interact with the major stakeholders; these are the people who have the capacity to resolve this issue and it’s important they hear directly from Community Health Professionals about what needs to be done.
The forum will also feature the launch of our recently commissioned videos, featuring VHPA Community Health Members.
Tickets (free) will be able to be booked from next week however, save the date now so you know you can attend!
