VHPA Members at Radiation Oncology Victoria (ROV) are currently enjoying – and yes, we use the term advisedly – not one but two lots of bargaining with both the Radiation Therapists (RT) and the Patient Services (PS) Enterprise Agreements in negotiation.

The Agreements, which have until now been combined, are at slightly different stages with the RT Agreement put out to ballot by ROV Management whereas the first bargaining meeting for the Patient Services Agreement has just been held.

“We’re urging all ROV RT’s to vote NO in this ballot to send a strong message to ROV Management that the Agreement draft is unfinished and the pay rise on offer is sub-standard” said Lead Organiser, Linda Jenkin.

Whilst todays Patient Services meeting included some productive discussion and ended in a “we’ll consider what you’ve said and respond”, it is anticipated that management will proceed down a similar path to the RT Agreement.

“Unless there is a strong message from the RT staff, we have no doubt that they will try the same approach with the Patient Services staff,” said Jenkin. “If they do, we’ll fight that one as well, but it would be more productive for all concerned to resume bargaining.”
