VAHPA encourages members to stand in solidarity with vulnerable Victorians and our fellow health workers by protesting the Andrews Government’s move to privatise public disability services.
Allied health professionals and the wider community will join members of the Health and Community Services Union (HACSU) in a protest outside the Victorian Labor Party Conference, being held at Moonee Valley Racecourse from 9:30am on Saturday November 12.
The State Labor Government is well aware of the consistent failure of privatised public services in the provision of efficient and quality service delivery and of the legacy of failed privatisation policies in Victoria.
Protesters are demanding Andrews adhere to his preselection promise of not privatising essential disability services that are used by 3000 Victorians and employ 5000 public health and disability workers. Privatisation would have an adverse impact on all parties except those seeking to eke profit out of the already under resourced sector.
Protest attendees are asked to assemble at the gates of the main entrance off McPherson Street, Moonee Ponds.
