All health professionals deserve access to both their industrial and professional bodies. This, for a range of reasons, has proven to be somewhat problematic in years gone by. We are committed to rectifying this shortcoming. Indeed, we are actively working towards fostering productive relations between the Union and the relevant professional associations. To this end we recently entered into dialogue with the Australian Physiotherapy Association. I am happy to report that our first couple of meetings have been tremendously encouraging. Cindy Higgins, Manager of the Victorian Branch of the APA, and her team have been frank, welcoming and enthusiastic about bridging the gap between our two bodies. This bodes well for the Union, its members and the profession more broadly. We look forward to replicating this success across the sector and to forging a strong and unified health professional network.
