Industrial action looms at Healthcare Imaging Services (HIS) as negotiations have reached loggerheads.
The position put by HIS management is unacceptable and constitutes a real-terms reduction in pay—less than 2% increase in the first year, no subsequent increases and no improvement in conditions.
HIS members have responded to this miserly offer by voting, overwhelmingly, to take protected action.
Members are likely to go without pay during periods of industrial action. As such, the VHPA is hosting a fundraiser to provide support for our fellow HIS members in their struggle.
All funds raised will go towards supporting HIS members in their struggle to achieve a fair and reasonable rate of pay and to help cover legal costs incurred during the campaign—already in the thousands of dollars.
Industrial action is a last resort and the decision to go down that path is not taken lightly. However the reality is, this is a situation any of us could find ourselves in.
