Members may have seen recent reports in the press regarding allegations of “cronyism, the misuse of members’ funds and Health Services Union resources being used for Labor Party preselection campaigns.”
These reports stem from a series of complaints to the Fair Work Commission made by Leonie Flynn, the HSU Victoria No.1 Branch Assistant Secretary & Treasurer.
These allegations do not pertain to the Victorian Health Professional Association (VHPA) in any way.
They relate only to Branch No. 1 — recently rebadged as the Health Workers Union by their new leadership team led by Secretary Diana Asmar.
The Fair Work Commission yesterday confirmed that it is launching a formal investigation into these allegations.
We understand that this will be of great concern to all HSU members and look forward to a rapid and decisive outcome.
