Health Professionals at Healthe Care have won early access to Long Service Leave after a protracted but ultimately successful campaign by the Union.

Instead of waiting until they have served fifteen years, staff at Healthe Care have been guaranteed the right to access Long Service Leave (LSL) on a pro rata basis after ten years.

The VHPA took Healthe Care management to the Fair Work Commission on the basis that management had misled staff over their entitlements in the recently negotiated Enterprise Agreement (EA). The Commission directed Healthe Care to give a formal undertaking that Health Professionals had the right to access LSL after ten years.

“It is important that Healthe Care staff remain vigilant about their rights and entitlements by being active in the VHPA,” said Emma Brelsford, Organiser.
