Community Health members are ramping up their campaign to achieve a strong agreement outcome and increased funding for centres, with a rally and stop-work scheduled for October 16th.
Members at Banyule, ISIS Primary Care and Cohealth commenced protected industrial action in August. Actions include wearing campaign t-shirts at work, not attending team meetings, not performing duties outside position descriptions and several one-hour work stoppages. Negotiations at several centres have recommenced following the industrial action.
In August, Branch Secretary Craig McGregor, together with delegates, met with Shadow Minister for Health , Gavin Jennings. Mr Jennings told delegates that Labor are committed supporters of the community health sector. We will be pursuing further discussions with Mr Jennings and other politicians in the
coming months
On October 16 members at the centers taking industrial action will take a half day work stoppage to attend the lunch time rally. Members at others centers will be taking leave to attend. If you are able to come along to support your colleague in Community Health you would be most welcome.
