The Victorian Allied Health Professionals Association (VAHPA) is seeking a suitably qualified and committed member to fill the role of Ordinary Member on our Branch Committee of Management (BCOM).
Speech Pathologist, Kaye Kingham, held the position for over 2 years and did a fantastic job representing her colleagues. Kaye will be dearly missed.
Casual Vacancies are filled either by a formal election process and conducted by the AEC (where the unexpired portion of the term of office exceeds three years) or via an expression of interest process (where the unexpired portion of the term of office does not exceed three years).
VAHPA members are at all times advised of Casual Vacancies via our website, print publications (where relevant) and via email and/or text message.
All members interested in being a representative for your colleagues on BCOM should lodge an expression of interest (see below for further information).
All members of BCOM are allied health professionals; we work together to further the interests of allied health professionals across Victoria. All financial members have the right to seek a position on the committee.
Those interested should acquaint themselves with all aspects of the Rules but in particular should be familiar with the structure and roles of BCOM. See the Rules of the HSU (particularly Part C – Branch Organisation).
We are seeking expressions of interest (EOI) from the membership—please email EOIs to Recruitment@vahpa.asn.au. Applications close at COB 10 March.
The Committee will consider all EOIs at the 14 March meeting. Appointment will be based on a range of factors from governance experience to profession and sector, from knowledge of financial management to expertise in industrial relations.
Expressions of Interest should be concise and direct. The following areas are suggested areas for inclusion:
- Profession
- Employer
- Industrial relations and bargaining experience
- Previous experience with boards
- Experience with financial management
- Views on representative democracy and collective action
- Knowledge of the Health Services Union
VAHPA is a democratic community of allied health professionals. Members have a responsibility to be active participants. Throw your hat in the ring!
