The casual observer could be forgiven for thinking that the only bargaining happening was in the Public Sector; however, this is not the case.
VAHPA are involved in a long list of bargaining currently underway and in various stages of progress outside of the Public Sector, including Healthe Care, Ramsay, St Vincent’s Private, Yooralla, Dimple, Melbourne City Mission Palliative Care, Macedon Ranges, Scope, Western Private and the Royal District Nursing Service (RDNS).
This is quite apart from other new Agreements resolved earlier this year including Sunraysia Medical Imaging and Cabrini.
In addition, pre-bargaining work is underway at workplaces including Gateways Support Services, Pinarc, CASA Barwon, Queen Elizabeth Centre (QEC), Eastern Palliative Care (EPC), Lyndoch Living and of course thirty stand-alone Community Health Centres!
“The impact of the positive Public Sector outcomes are already being reflected in bargaining discussions with other employers in relation to both salary increase and clausal improvements” said VAHPA Assistant Secretary, Andrew Hewat. “It reinforces the importance of the Public Sector Agreement as a benchmark for agreements for all Allied Health Professionals.”
