VAHPA members in Community Health are ramping up their campaign to achieve the strong agreement outcome that they have been fighting for.
Allied Health Professionals in Community Health must have a modern and professional classification structure that provides genuine career pathways that will recognise advanced clinical practice and provide genuine opportunities for clinical education and research, allows automatic progression from Grade 1 to Grade 2 and provides an effective managerial structure. These outcomes are crucial to future proof the Community Health sector at a time of dynamic change.
Members at several centres commenced protected industrial action in an attempt to progress the claims. These actions include wearing campaign t-shirts at work, not attending team meetings, not performing duties outside position descriptions and not recording or reporting statistics. The response at one centre has been to dock members’ pay. This represents a significant escalation in the response and members need to galvanise and show solidarity at this critical time in the campaign.
The Community Health Rally on 29 June is a chance for all members to show solidarity and send a message that it is time to see negotiations achieve pay and conditions that members have been fighting for. VAHPA urges members to attend in support of Community Health.
