Close Manus and Nauru – Bring Them Here – Rally July 20
VAHPA members are encouraged to attend the upcoming Refugee Action Collective (RAC) rally on July 20. VAHPA is proud to endorse this rally, consistent with our ongoing commitment to this important issue.
WHEN: Saturday July 20, 2pm
WHERE: State Library of Victoria, Cnr Latrobe and Swanston Streets
In the face of the escalating human crisis on Manus and Nauru, it is more important than ever to take a stand against the human rights abuses inflicted against refugees at the hands of our government. The cruel system of off-shore detention of asylum seekers must be brought to an end.
Refugees are people. They are workers. They have families. Like everyone, they have hopes and ambitions, and a desire to be part of a community. First and foremost, they want a life free from the war, violence and persecution in their home countries that drove them to seek asylum in Australia.
We cannot – we must not – despair, but instead continue to fight until this cruel system is ended. History will not look favourably on our treatment of these vulnerable people.
You can help change things by getting involved. If you would like to join VAHPA at the rally, please register here.
