Members are encouraged to take a look at VAHPA’s annual financial report.

As previously reported, the 2015 – 16 financial year has been another successful one for VAHPA. Our surplus for the year was $64,016; we improved our equity position, now $462,440, up from $398,424 in the 2014 – 15 financial year, and our income from membership subscriptions increased by $244,411 to $2,045,803. We also grew by 597 members during this period.

This fantastic result was achieved in spite of the fact that significant resources were directed into the successful Code Blue campaign—the largest campaign in the history of the branch.

The slow but continual improvement in our financial position is starting to give us the space to take a proactive stance on those issues that are important to all workers in this country including of course healthcare workers. We have for example recently employed a researcher and a new organiser. We were able to provide support for one of our members, Alex Bhathal, for her campaign in the federal seat of Batman. And we were able to start playing an active role within the Australian Council of Trade Unions (ACTU) and the Victorian Trades Hall Council (VTHC).

These outcomes are vital to our ongoing success. VAHPA must be able to deliver for the members in their places of work and on a governmental and legislative level. We are working hard to position ourselves to ensure that Allied Health Professionals have a progressive voice and can wield genuine power with regards to healthcare policy and structures over the coming decades.

VAHPA encourages all members to take the time to properly examine the report. This is an important part of being a member of our community.
