Four Radiographers, employed by Healthcare Imaging Services, were today issued with indefinite lockout notices. The unprecedented and heavy-handed move comes in response to industrial action taken by employees.
The four Health Professionals have been have been directed not to attend work and will not be paid during the lockout.

“We must not be financially beaten into submission by this organization. We must stick together and support each another,” said VHPA Secretary Craig McGregor.
The Victorian Health Professional Association (VHPA) and Healthcare Imaging Services (HIS) have been in Enterprise Agreement negotiations since mid 2013 with HIS offering only a 2% increase over the life of the Agreement.
“The current offer is downright disrespectful. Employees are already on sub-par wages despite the fact the company reaped $150 million increase in profits last year,” continued McGregor.
In mid February, HIS members voted overwhelmingly to take protected action in support of their claims. Action started today with a BBQ held at the Northern Hospital site.
“We have worked long and hard to ensure that healthcare outcomes are not negatively impacted on by any industrial action taken by workers. The approach taken by management however must be of significant concern to Northern Hospital,” Continued McGregor.
Support HIS members by donating to the HIS fund or by attending the fundraiser at the Comedy Lounge. Proceeds go to members who are locked-out or docked pay and for the legal fees for the campaign.
