VAHPA Position on Budget Cuts to Public Health

The state of public health in Victoria is dire. The Victorian Allied Health Professionals Association (VAHPA) strongly condemns the severe funding cuts imposed by the state government on public health services. These cuts undermine our healthcare system, impacting healthcare professionals and patients alike.

We demand safe staffing levels, that workplace health and safety standards be upheld, and that our conditions and entitlements are protected. Our Enterprise Agreement 2021-2026 provides us with legally enforceable standards around workload allocation, overtime, backfill, advertising vacancies, consultation and occupational health and safety. We will use them.

We will commence a public campaign against these cuts immediately. Together, we must safeguard the future of healthcare in Victoria. Now is the time for unity. Our jobs, our professions, our well-being and patient care are at stake.
